The Introduction

Welcome to the Voice Announcement feature’s “Satellite View”.  The Voice Announcement feature allows you to assign unique audio announcements to each of the radio's zones and channels, as well as to several popular radio features. While the radio-user is hearing these audio prompts, possibly even through a speaker headset, the radio’s display is able to be operated in a blacked-out stealth mode.

Creating Audios Files in the WAV file format

The first thing to note is that any recorded audio files must be recorded in a WAV file format outside of the Customer Programming Software.

Converting WAV files to the MVA format

Using the CPS’s Voice Announcement Converter Utility, WAV files can be and must be converted to the Motorola Voice Announcement “MVA” file format.

Loading MVA files into the CPS

Using the CPS's Voice Announcement List utility (bring in the button), converted MVA files may be loaded into CPS’s current codeplug.

Voice Announcement Feature’s Optional Tools

Note that the Voice Announcement feature also includes two Optional tools. The Voice Announcement Codeplug Usage Utility allows you to keep track of how many Voice Files are currently loaded into the CPS’s current codeplug. The Voice Announcement Download Utility allows you to download MVA files from a CPS codeplug, for archiving on other storage devices, or even for possible reuse within other radios.

Assigning Audio Files to Radio Features

Now that your Motorola Voice Audio files are loaded within the CPS’s current codeplug, the Voice Announcement Wide Page facilities the assignment of these audio prompts to specific radio features. Additionally, from the Zone Channel Assignment Window, you may create a Zone Change Announcement and a Channel Change Announcement that allow for audio prompts on any radio-user mode change.

And don’t forget to program the Channel Announcement button-press. This allows the radio-user to re-check the radio’s current channel’s audio prompt.
